Richmond RCMP will be educating the public on Saturday, June 14, 2025 on how to safely use e-scooters.

Richmond RCMP is challenging the public this Saturday on their e-scooter safety and riding skills.

For the second year in a row, Richmond RCMP is hosting its free E-Scooter Safety and Skills Challenge to educate new and experienced riders on how to navigate the city's streets confidently and legally on electric scooters.

The challenge will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the northwest parking lot of Lansdowne Shopping Centre, near No. 3 Road and Alderbridge Way.

All participants must be 16 years or older, sign a waiver and wear a helmet.

E-scooters and helmets will be provided on site by Lime, or participants can bring their own.

The event will start off with a safety briefing, followed by various basic skills courses including turning, stopping and hazard awareness.

After that, participants will navigate through a comprehensive skills challenge course.

There will be giveaways for all participants as well as door prizes.

"We're building a culture of road safety that includes every mode of travel," said Sgt. Eric Baskette, spokesperson with Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit.

"This event supports our strategic focus on education and community engagement to prevent harm before it occurs."
